DIY Weekend, Pt2

So, part two of the DIY extravaganza was so amazingly simple! And since this is a momma blog, I can tell you that you can do this and multitask like I did.  Pumped my bewbs and crafted. If you ask me, it takes me up a few pegs on the "crafty" wall of fame.  Just sayin'.

My sis and I went to Michael's and found that canvas was BOGO! Bonus!  So we got two 24x36in canvas, some sponge brushes, two bottles of paint each and skipped out of the painting section (seriously, we did not belong there. at all.) 

When we got home, we grabbed three different sizes of painters tape and went to town taping off sections of our canvas.  In the directions to this DIY project, they use two colors.  We didn't do this for two reasons.  1) it was our first time and we weren't sure if we should push our luck.  2) we had no idea what other colors would match our respective bedrooms.

We both love how they turned out!  If your paint bleeds under the tape a bit like ours did, my sister, in a genius move, decided to put some nail polish remover on Q-Tip.  Outstanding!

Canvas: $20 (but BOGO, so $10 each!)
Paint: $0.59 each (x4)
Sponges: $0.99 for a package of 3.

Divide by 2 (one for sis, one for me)
This project cost a total of $10.85!

DIY Weekend, Pt1

So my sister (who is 5 years younger than me, super awesome and getting married in less than two weeks) and I decided to have our first DIY extravaganza. She and her soon to be hubby just moved into a new cute apartment and as you know, we're moving into our new house in 3 (count it, 1,2,3!!) days. Seriously, what new living space doesn't need some new art?  We did 3 projects, but we're new to DIY, so it was totally an extravaganza, trust me. 


Our first project was found here.  In short, you take a plain outdoor rug and paint a word on it.  We used stencils, per the directions but then used spray paint instead of paint and a paint brush.  We probably should have heeded the directions, but they turned out well enough. If you do this and use spray paint, make sure to spray from directly above and not from the sides.  Also, we taped down parts of the paper with painters tape so that it wouldn't get blown around by the paint flying at it.

We used outdoor spray paint, $10 out door rugs from target and made our own stencils. 

Nap Time

It's nap time.  Usually, this does not last any longer than 45 minutes at a time.  So why, when I have laundry, picking up and packing to do am I sitting here messing around on facebook, looking up birthday party ideas and watching the damn Casey Anthony trial? 

For the past two weeks, since we've moved in with my parents until our house is ready (4 more days!) the only alone time I get is nap time.  I have a new found love for nap time.  (aaaaaaand cue crying baby...)

Maybe when we move, I'll be the good kind of mom that actually does what she needs to during naps (laundry, cooking, cleaning, THEN playing).  But seriously, who am I kidding.  It's 45 minutes, that's not long enough to get much of anything done.

Now back to the Casey Anthony trial.  Seriously biatch killed her daughter.  More on that later.

Holy Crap, I'm a mom and a wife

Hi, I'm M.  Wife to BB (Big B), Mommy to B. BB and I have been married for almost three years now.  Time sure has flown by since the night we met in the bar {cue fairy tale music}.

We tried for just over a year to get pregnant. We started to do some testing.  BB had to do it into a cup, his swimmers were totally fine. Crap, that meant it was probably me, and it was.  I had a laperoscopy to remove endometriosis (too deep for the first post? nah!) and then BOOM! Knocked up!  I had an easy pregnancy up until the 7th month.  I got put on bed rest, went in and out of the hospital a few times, but it was all worth it.

Our first and only child, B is just over 9 months old.  What a silly little boy he is turning into.  I could have never imagined how much or how hard I'd fall in love with this little guy.  He came into the world 4 weeks early, spent a few nights in the NICU for a mild case of jaundice and has barely left my sight since.

We have two puggles.  Not the smartest dogs on the planet, but they sure are loving.  The little one was my baby before B was born. She went everywhere with me.  Now she just doesn't know what to do.  She lets B yank on her ears, screach at her, pull her tail; all just to sit near us. poor girl.  The bigger one likes BB. He just wants to sit on the couch and watch TV.  He doesn't go out of his way to get away from B, but he sure doesn't make it his job to check things out with him.  Both dogs have health issues. Seriously, wtf dogs?! One has seizures, one has thyroid issues. Both on meds twice a day.  Both hate taking meds....twice a day.

We just moved from BB's (Big B--Daddy of B, Husband of M) hometown in Indiana back to mine in Michigan. I am more than thrilled to be back home!

No idea where this blog will go, but I've recently (as in, um...this weekend) got into doing a few DIY projects.  I also like to cook, and I really should cook dinner more often, but usually am trying to throw the mess into closets and under beds before BB gets home from work.   So, maybe I'll share some projects and recipes!

A lot of silly things happen in my life, I have funny friends and family that make my life amazingly funny...to me at least. I'm sure I'll write about that too.  We'll see if you think I'm half as funny as I think I am.
